Newcastle’s Georginio Wijnaldum is reportedly keen on a move to London.
Georginio Wijnaldum celebrates scoring for Newcastle from the penalty spot against Tottenham
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United playmaker Georginio Wijnaldum is keen on a move to London, with Tottenham allegedly planning a swoop for the player.
Wijnaldum, 25, joined Newcastle from PSV Eindhoven last summer, following an 18-goal campaign which helped PSV win the Eredivisie title and qualify for the Champions League.

The Dutch international traded Europe’s elite for Tyneside though, and it’s a decision he may now regret, as he suffered relegation to the Championship with Newcastle in a torrid campaign for the Magpies.
Wijnaldum did end the season with 11 goals and five assists for Newcastle, but he frustrated Magpies fans with a host of invisible displays towards the end of the season, and famously failed to register even one goal away from home.

Now though, with Newcastle relegated, Wijnaldum is being linked with an exit, with the Daily Mail claiming that Everton, Roma and Tottenham – the team Wijnaldum scored twice against on the final day of the Premier League season back in May – are all keen to sign him.
It’s now believed that Tottenham are leading the race and are plotting a move for the player, and they will be encouraged by claims that Wijnaldum wants a move to London, rather than Merseyside with Everton or the Italian capital with Roma.

One problem Spurs could face is Newcastle’s asking price for Wijnaldum. It’s believed that the Magpies could demand up to £25m for the Dutchman, despite paying £14m for him just a year ago.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is a famously difficult negotiator, and won’t splash the cash for the sake of it – meaning he may have to try and grind Newcastle down from their £25m asking price or look elsewhere this summer, as Mauricio Pochettino seeks new signings ahead of the Champions League.
