Speaking to talkSPORT, Neill Warnock has said that he believes Arsenal need to add more leadership to their team.

The Gunners are expected to be busy in this summer transfer window as they look to build on last season’s second place finish.

They have already brought Granit Xhaka to the club, securing the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder before the start of Euro 2016.

He is not likely to be the only arrival, with numerous reports claiming that a forward is top of Arsene Wenger’s wish list.

And Warnock believes that they must add both a striker and a centre back if they are to compete, adding that the current squad needs more leadership on the pitch.

“I do think the spine of the team [needs improving] with another striker and another centre half,” he told talkSPORT.

“I think they’ve got to have a bit more leadership on the pitch when it goes more difficult after Christmas.”

It now remains to be seen what further additions that Arsene Wenger will make to his squad this summer.

He has signalled his intent to spend money with the signing of Xhaka and fans will be keen to see further big money additions secured.

Doing so may prove to be tricky though, especially in the hunt for a striker, with Arsenal not the only club looking to improve that area with a big name signing.
