Jefferies hires six bankers from Deutsche Bank

Jefferies Group hired six members of Deutsche Bank’s U.S. metals and mining investment banking team, including managing director Dan Chu, according to people familiar with the matter.

Bloomberg News reports that Chu and the five other Deutsche Bank staff agreed last week to join Jefferies’s global metals and mining group, said the people, asking not to be identified as the details are private. Chu will be global head of metals and mining investment banking based in New York, as well as head of metals and mining M&A, one of the people said.

Dieter Hoeppli will be a managing director in the M&A group and chairman of metals and mining, while Jerrod Freund will join as a managing director heading up the Americas metals and mining investment banking team, according to the person.

Christoph Hinder will be a managing director, while Oliver Dachsel becomes a senior vice president at Jefferies and Johnston Suter will be a vice president, all in the global metals and mining investment banking group, the person said.
