West Ham United have confirmed via their official website that defender Aaron Cresswell has agreed a new deal with the club.

The left-back has signed a one-year extension to his long-term contract with the Hammers, meaning he is now signed on to stay with the Hammers until 2021.

The improved deal is just rewards for Cresswell, who was once again one of the star performers for the side as they impressed last season.

Indeed, it has been an impressive two years for him since he originally joined West Ham from Ipswich Town in 2014 and he says that he is looking forward to another five years at the club as they head into a new era at the Olympic Stadium.

“It’s great news for me,” he told the club’s official website. “I’ve been here for two years now and I’m looking forward to the next five seasons now that I’ve signed.”

The club’s fans warmly welcomed the news, as they took to Twitter to share their delight after the announcement.

He is the second star to sign a new deal at the club this week, following in the footsteps of winger Michail Antonio.

And some Hammers fans are now hoping that other stars, principally defender Angelo Ogbonna, will also be agreeing new contracts.
