Both Tottenham Hotspur players have been linked with an exit during this transfer window.
According to a report from the Sun, Borussia Dortmund are lining up a move for Tottenham Hotspur winger Nacer Chadli, while a recent article from Gazzetta World claimed Inter Milan were watching Erik Lamela at this summer’s Copa America ahead of a likely bid.
But surely when it comes to Tottenham’s wingers it will be a case of either or in terms of summer exits.
The rumours regarding Lamela persist despite the Argentine international turning a significant corner last season, ending the campaign not only with 11 goals and 10 assists in 44 appearances but also with a string of fine contributions in terms of his overall performance.
As for Chadli, he scored seven goals and set up five more yet with only a flurry of substitute appearances late on, he is clearly not as highly regarded as his fellow wide man at the club.
For that reason alone it would make sense that if any winger is to leave Tottenham this season it will be the Belgian international.
Spurs are already short of width and while a new player could be arriving in due course there is no chance Pochettino would ship out both Lamela and Chadli when so much of his side’s attacking threat comes through the middle already.
Tottenham fans can surely dismiss the rumours relating to Lamela’s absence. However, if another new winger is brought in this summer, Chadli may well have played his last match for the club, certainly if his desire is to play regular first-team football.
