The Tottenham Hotspur defender is linked with a move away.
The 23-year-old defender only joined Spurs last summer but he spent much of his first season playing as cover for Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
Laola report that the Austria international was the subject of offers from Bundesliga sides Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, only to be knocked back.
Wimmer is not a first-team regular but manager Mauricio Pochettino will be banking on him come August.
With Vertonghen potentially out injured until the start of September, Pochettino needs somebody to fill the void and Wimmer has proven himself a very capable deputy.
The Belgian defender missed a couple of months in the second half of last season and Wimmer grabbed the chance with both hands, forming an excellent partnership alongside Alderweireld and might have been unlucky to lose his place when his team-mate returned.
Tottenham have a tricky August in store; kicking off with a trip to Ronald Koeman's Everton which will be anything but easy one would imagine, before ending the month by hosting Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool - again, very tough. A home visit of Crystal Palace is in between both.
