According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez wants to get the bulk of his transfer business done before next week.

The Magpies boss is expected to be busy in the summer transfer window as he looks to build a squad capable of securing an instant return to the Premier League.

He has already made three new signings, with Matz Sels, Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle all making the move to St James’ Park.

More signings are likely to arrive at the club, with the defence an area that needs particular attention given how poorly they have performed in recent years.

Fabricio Coloccini is also set to depart the club in the coming days as he nears a return to former club San Lorenzo and will need to be replaced.

And according to the Chronicle that could be sooner rather than later as Benitez wants the majority of his deal done before the team sets off for Ireland next week.

Where the Spaniard looks to make further additions remains to be seen, although given the work he has done so far he has already resolved several issues in the squad.
