The two sides are set to meet in the semi-finals of Euro 2016 on Thursday as the summer competition nears its conclusion.
France secured their progression to the last four with a comfortable win over Iceland, with Giroud in particularly fine form in the game.
Germany meanwhile had to navigate a tougher route, as they required penalties to see off a resilient Italy side.
As usual, Ozil has been one of the star performers for Germany in the tournament and Giroud admits his team will have to stop his Arsenal teammate if they are to make it to the final.
“Our record against Germany is something we’re going to have to change because they’re a bit like our bogey side,” the Mirror quotes him saying.
“Ozil is a very talented player in terms of his passing and his vision for Arsenal and for Germany. He likes to drift between the lines so you have to keep an eye on him. We will have to stop him.”
It will now be interesting to see which of the two players comes out on top in what should prove to be a fascinating clash between the two sides.
Giroud has very much answered his critics at the tournament with his three goals putting him just one short of top scorer Antoine Griezmann.
Ozil meanwhile has proved his status as a key member of the German machine and whichever player enjoys the better evening on Thursday is likely to have a big impact on the result.
