Liverpool's Alberto Moreno in action with Sevilla's Mariano
Liverpool's need for a left-back was cruelly exposed in the Europa League final by Sevilla, with Alberto Moreno putting in one of his worst performances for the club in the 3-1 defeat.
He was widely criticised for his display, but so far Liverpool have not moved to replace him.

One player they have been consistently linked with is German international Jonas Hector, who has been impressing at Euro 2016.
Yet this week Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as surprise front runners for his signature.
Wolfsburg are also said to be keen on the Cologne full-back, who is 26-years-old.
Tottenham may be looking to upgrade on their current options, but they already have two international quality players to pick from in the position, Danny Rose and Ben Davies.

One option would be to switch Davies to centre-back, after his recent displays for Wales in the role, but from Liverpool's perspective this is besides the point.
Discounting Moreno, their next best option is teenager Joe Gomez, who began last season excellently, but given that he is coming off a cruciate knee injury suffered late last year, there is a need for a new option.
Liverpool's need is far greater than Tottenham's, and they need to push to seal a deal, especially with Wolfsburg also hovering, with the future of their left-back Ricardo Rodriguez also in doubt.
The aim of Jurgen Klopp's side is to get closer to Spurs and overtake them this season, but if they miss out on them to Hector, the gap could well get wider.
