Fer has made a permanent switch to the Liberty Stadium, after impressing on loan with the Welsh side last season.
The 26-year-old looks set to be a key part of Swansea’s plans for next season and Fer’s former QPR teammate, Austin, believes it will be a good move for the midfielder.
Fer made nine appearances for Swansea during his loan spell there last season.
The former Norwich City man looked comfortable playing in the Premier League, and he was delighted to have completed a long-term switch.
Fer is one of a number of players who QPR have already offloaded this summer, with the London club aiming to reduce their wage bill.
More of Rangers’ first-team squad are expected to follow Fer out of the exit door soon, as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink tries to assemble a younger team at Loftus Road.
