Former Celtic midfielder Donati will reportedly train with Martin Canning's side this week.

It's less than a month since Massimo Donati jokingly urged Brendan Rodgers to sign him for Celtic, in an interview with the Scottish Sun.

The former Bhoys midfielder, who is looking for a new club after leaving Bari this summer, went on to profess his love for the Scottish champions, revealing a Celtic tattoo on his chest and admitting to missing Glasgow.

And it seems Donati could be (partially) in luck, with a trial at Hamilton Academical set to take place this week, according to the Scotsman, which cites the Scottish Sun.

Hamilton, who are based 10 miles south east of Parkhead, are currently on tour in Spain and have reportedly invited the Italian along.

Donati may have turned 35 earlier this year, but he made 16 appearances in Serie B last season and is said to have offers from around Europe.

However, his love of Scotland, where he spent just over two years between 2007 and 2009, could see Hamilton win out - provided he impressed.

The former AC Milan midfielder played 55 times for Celtic in total and appeared in both legs of their Champions League last-16 defeat to Barcelona in 2008.
