The former Bhoys player of the year could be on the move to Turkey this summer.
Brendan Rodgers has got his transfer plans for this summer at Celtic in full swing already, and it appears as though Stefan Johansen will be the latest star out the door as reports in Turkey claim the midfielder has agreed terms with Galatasaray.
Johansen joined the Bhoys from Stromsgodset in January 2014 and after looking promising in his first half season in Scotland he starred in his first full campaign, scoring 13 goals in 56 appearances in all competitions and being named the club's player of the year.
However, he failed to replicate that sparkling form last term as Celtic ground their way to a fifth consecutive league title, and was the target of much criticism from Hoops supporters.
Johansen played under last season's Celtic boss, Ronny Deila, at in their native Norway, and it was suggested by some that he owed his place in the team throughout a run of bad form to the history between player and manager.
Deila refuted that suggestion, but there is no doubt that Johansen looked a shadow of the player he was in 2014-15, and it is perhaps unsurprising that Rodgers is reportedly ready to let him leave Glasgow.
The 25-year-old has just a single year left on his Celtic deal, and with a new contract offer appearing unlikely it seems that Rodgers would rather take a limited fee for the player and move on.
Johansen is a man who splits opinion at Parkhead, and many fans on Twitter suggested that they will be glad to see the back of a player who elicited frustration from many on the terraces last season.
Johansen off to Galatasaray? Brendan Rodgers is the gift that keeps on giving if so— Chris Quinn (@ChrisQuinn93) July 5, 2016
Good riddance, Stefan Johansen. Bad form I can look past but you were heartless and spineless last year. An empty kit. You won't be missed.— Kieren Kerr (@KierenKerr) July 5, 2016
Johansen away thank god man— Kieran Obrien (@Kieranobriennx) July 5, 2016
Johansen is pish no great loss and if a players heart is not in it he's not worth keeping ! He's been an empty jersey anyway #Celtic— Lee Stevenson (@biglee1888) July 5, 2016
Hopefully Johansen rumours are true, The guy never looked interested the full of last season. Hopefully a few more dead wood to follow him.— Michael Houston (@_MickHouston) July 5, 2016
I wish Johansen well. However if last season was anything to go by. We have done well to get rid of him.— Glasgow Celtic FC (@TunesCfc) July 5, 2016
£1.1mill for Johansen is decent money, final year of his contract with no interest in signing another.— Rob76 (@aarbee13) July 5, 2016
Johansen obviously doesn't fit into Rodgers style of play, hardly surprising as the amount of times he made the wrong pass was shocking— reilly (@reilly67) July 5, 2016
At the start of last season I'd be raging about Johansen leaving. But I'm about as bothered as he was about trying last season. See ya— Jack Mc (@Jack__McNamara) July 5, 2016
Don't think we will miss Johansen at all, and trust Rodgers to replace him with a better player— Steven O'Donnell (@Odee1888) July 5, 2016
Stefan Johansen and Scott Brown were too similar. Accommodating them both left the midfield wanting in other areas, good transfer for all.— Jack Lyons (@JLyonsFootball) July 5, 2016
However, he Johansen did still have some sections of the Celtic support on his side, who clearly haven't forgotten the talent that the player obviously has in his locker.
Johansen is a loss to us, you don't become a bad player overnight. The positive is there is plenty of competition now for his position.— Stephen McGinn (@Steph67Lisboa) July 5, 2016
Johansen is a brilliant player. Fear we will regret him leaving because our fans hounding him out for a poor season.— Dok (@GlaschuBhoy) July 5, 2016
Johansen will be a big loss, perfectly capable of being a box to box midfielder, energy to burn— John Wood (@jrw1888) July 5, 2016
Really hope Johansen stays!— Jenson More (@Jenson1888) July 5, 2016
Will be disappointed to see Stefan Johansen go but at least the boo bhoys and ghirls will be happy.— Sean (@seanbhoy69) July 5, 2016
