Well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has claimed on social networking site Twitter that the takeover of Wolverhampton Wanderers will be completed soon.

Balague has also suggested on Twitter that Julen Lopetegui will become the new manager of the Championship club once Chinese multi-billionaire Robin Li takes over.

Wolves are a big club, and they were playing in the Premier League not so long ago. The long-term target of The Wanderers will be to return to the top flight of English football.

The 2015-16 season was a disappointment for Wolves, who failed to finish in the top 10 of the Championship.

The 2014-15 campaign was better, though, as The Wanderers narrowly missed out on the playoffs.

Kenny Jackett is in charge of Wolves at the moment, and he has done a decent job at Molineux and perhaps he should be allowed to carry on for one more season at least.

However, it seems that Lopetegui will become the new Wolves manager once the takeover is completed.

The 49-year-old is a former goalkeeper who was in charge of Portuguese giants Porto from the summer of 2014 until January 2016.
