The Scottish Premiership champions got their first win under new boss Brendan Rodgers as they narrowly defeated Austrian side Sturm Graz with Ryan Christie netting the only goal of the game.
It was a positive afternoon for Celtic, and after the match Rodgers provided further good news on absent duo Rogic and Forrest as the two players edge closer to a full return to fitness.
“James has been ill, he’s had a virus. So he’s actually been imprisoned in his room for a few days, which is unfortunate. Hopefully he will pick up now that the doctor has been to see him,” the former Liverpool boss told the Evening Times.
“Tom, it’s just precautionary. He’s worked very hard but coming back from that groin problem, you don’t take chances.”
Both players are likely to become key members of Celtic’s squad this season, therefore Rodgers wil be hopeful both can return to action swiftly and force themselves into the first-team picture.
Australian international Rogic made 23 league appearances last term, scoring an impressive seven goals and ten in all competitions as he enjoyed the best goal scoring campaign of his career.
Forrest, 24, made 28 appearances in all competitons for the Hoops last term, providing versatility as he can feature both upfront or in wide areas where his explosive pace can cause all sorts of problems.
