According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Thomas Vermaelen is weighing up a potential move to West Ham United, while the likes of Napoli and Inter Milan remain options.

Barcelona surprisingly decided to splash around £15 million to secure the services of Thomas Vermaelen from Arsenal back in the summer of 2015 and it has been clear to see that the investment has not reaped benefits for the Catalan giants.

Due to various injury problems, Vermaelen has been reduced to only 11 La Liga appearances over the past two seasons and it is now widely expected that Barcelona will be looking to cut their losses on the Belgian international by offloading him this summer, especially after the big money arrival of Samuel Umtiti (Marca).

Despite his terrible injury record, a number of clubs are believed to be interested in Vermaelen and reports from Sport had claimed that the likes of West Ham United and Benfica were keen on signing the 30-year-old this summer.

Now in a further development to the story, Mundo Deportivo have gone on to claim that Vermaelen is currently weighing up a move to West Ham as well as considering the likes of Napoli, Inter Milan and Besiktas and the defender is all but certain to be on the move away from the Camp Nou this summer.

James Tomkins looks set to be on his way to Crystal Palace (Daily Mail) and Vermaelen could prove to be a very good replacement if West Ham are able to keep him fit.
