Metz academy director Denis Schaeffer has told The Sun that Sadio Mane would be a success at Liverpool.

Mane recently joined Liverpool from Premier League rivals Southampton. According to BBC Sport, the Reds had to pay the Saints a transfer fee of £34 million to secure the services of the Senegal international winger. It has been reported that the transfer fee could rise to £36m.

Schaeffer worked with Mane at Metz and brought him to Europe (as claimed by The Sun), and his former coach has backed the 24-year-old to be a success at Liverpool.

“I think so,” Schaeffer told The Sun about the possibility of Mane taking his potential from Southampton to Liverpool.

“He is still a young player and I think when I’ve seen him, every year he gets better and better.”
