Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is hoping to pull off a stunning move that would see Barcelona forward Luis Suarez return to the Premier League, the Daily Mirror reports.

The former Bayern Munich manager is preparing for his first season at the Etihad. And while he already has Sergio Aguero at his disposal, it appears that he is ready to raid another of his old clubs in an attempt to create one of the most devastating attacks in the world.

Suarez has spent the last two seasons with the Catalan giants after previously enjoying a successful, but highly controversial, three-year stay at Liverpool.

With Barca, the striker has scored 56 goals in just 62 league games and played a key role in helping Luis Enrique's side win the treble during his first year in Spain.

The Mirror reports that Suarez would cost an eye-watering £85m, but incredibly, they also suggest that the 29-year-old is open to the idea of moving back to England and would just need to persuade his family.

It would arguably be a major surprise if the Uruguayan did agree to join Guardiola. Though the Mirror reports that he is represented by the City boss' brother, he has been sensational at the Nou Camp having formed an incredible partnership with Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Plus, he enjoys cult-hero status at Anfield, so it seems unlikely that he would be willing to tarnish that by moving to a team in the same division, especially as that team only finished in the top four on goal difference last term.
