General view inside the City Ground
Forest not only appointed their new manager last week in Frenchman Philippe Montanier, but also secured their first signing of the Montanier era by snapping up Greek striker Apostolos Vellios.
Having landed Vellios, Forest are now turning their attention to other areas of the team - and a new defender appears to be heading to the City Ground in the coming days.
Lam, 22, was born in Amsterdam and came up through the ranks with AZ Alkmaar, before leaving for PEC Zwolle in 2014, where he has made more than 60 appearances in two seasons.
A Finland international, Lam - who can also play in holding midfield - is out of contract with PEC Zwolle, and reports suggest the has now agreed to join Forest on a free transfer, with Zwolle unable to match the wages on offer from Montanier's side.
Having released Kelvin Wilson, Forest needed depth in the heart of defence, and Lam will offer that - but whether he will become a regular starter or not remains to be seen.
Interestingly, Lam spent last season playing alongside striker Lars Veldwijk, who has returned to Forest after his loan spell with PEC Zwolle ended, and there may be hope for the duo to play together next season too after the Dutch hitman scored 14 goals last season.
Do you think Lam will be a good signing for Forest?
