Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour suggested on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 1) that Liverpool striker Christian Benteke would be a good signing for Crystal Palace.
According to a recent report in The Guardian, Palace are interested in signing Benteke from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Former Arsenal and England international midfielder Parlour believes that joining Palace in the summer transfer window would be a good move for Benteke.
“Benteke, it might be an opportunity for him to play on a regular basis, which as a player you want to,” said Parlour on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 1) while discussing the prospect of Benteke playing for Palace.
“It didn’t really work out at Liverpool. Mane obviously has gone there now as well, so that might open the door for Benteke to maybe move out.”
Benteke joined Liverpool from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015 and was expected to be a success at Anfield.
The Belgium international striker, though, failed to establish himself in the Reds’ starting lineup.
In 29 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last season, the 25-year-old scored nine goals and created 30 chances.
Benteke scored one goal and created five chances in seven Europa League games for the Merseyside outfit during the 2015-16 campaign.
