Quoted by The Daily Record, Rangers new boy has revealed that he has heard plenty about the intensity of Old Firm meetings with Celtic and cannot wait to experience it.

The 37-year-old defender joined Rangers on a free transfer this summer after spending his entire career in English football.

The Gers won promotion back to the Scottish Premiership for the first time in four years and excitement is steadiy building about the first Old Firm meeting of the new reason, which will take place at Parkhead on September 10.

Having played for six different clubs down south in a 22-year senior career, Hill has had plenty of on-the-field battles during his day, but arguably none as hostile or electric as a Rangers - Celtic affair.

Consequently, veteran centre-back Hill says that getting the chance to experience this fixture would be one of the "top achievements" of his lengthy career.

“People keep telling me about the intensity of the Old Firm fixture too," he said via The Daily Record.

"The club has been without the game for a while and now we could have four in a season. To play in those games would be one of the top achievements of my career.”

The second Premiership Old Firm will take place at Ibrox on New  Year's Eve.

Rangers beat Celtic in the last meeting - a penalty shootout victory in the Scottish Cup semi-final back in April.
