The Black Cats narrowly avoided relegation last season as they survived with just one game remaining of the campaign.
It was a familiar tale for them, having been involved in relegation scraps for the last four seasons under various regimes.
The key to survival this time was Sam Allardyce who, after replacing Dick Advocaat early in the season, saw a strong response from his team in the second half of the campaign.
They are keen to avoid another late battle next season and Arca has backed them to do just that.
“I’m sure Allardyce is going to hopefully put the team in a comfortable position in the Premier League.”
It now remains to be seen whether Sunderland can establish themselves as Premier League regulars and avoid relegation battles in future.
If they are to do so, then they certainly have the right man in charge, with Allardyce enjoying a fine record of establishing teams in the Premier League over his career.
As Arca alludes to though, much will rest on the work he can do in the summer transfer window. If he can be successful in his pursuits there, then there are not many who would bet against them next season.
