According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham Hotspur will send representatives to Milan in order to begin talks with Mauro Icardi’s agent over a possible switch to White Hart Lane.
The report claims that Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are also keen on the forward, but it is Spurs who are pushing to the front of the queue for his signature as they are ready to make a £37.75m bid.
Spurs are looking to add to their striker ranks this summer as boss Mauricio Mochettino seemingly wants to take the goal scoring burden off of England international Harry Kane.
A number of names have been linked with a move to North London, yet the latest in Icardi could be the most exciting of the lot as the Inter Milan ace boasts huge amounts of promise.
The 23-year-old began his Italian adventure with Sampdoria before joining Inter in 2013, going on to score an impressive 47 goals in 88 league games despite not being a traditional striker.
Icardi is quick, strong, technically brilliant and often lethal in-front of goal, yet arguably his best play comes outside of the penalty area as the Argentine looks to drop deep and link up with his teammates.
A recent report in the Gazzetta Dello Sport accredits West Ham United with an interest, while Inter chief Piero Ausilio told Gianluca Di Marzio last week that the forward wasn’t going to be sold this summer.
That said, almost every player has his price and should Tottenham make a club record bid in order to sign him, then Inter may find it hard to turn down their advances despite their best attempts.
