Here are three Euro 2016 players Tottenham should be looking at this summer...
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
Euro 2016 is coming toards the end of the the quarter final stage, and a week from now, two countries will be preparing for the final in Saint-Denis.
Teams like England, Austria and Turkey will feel like they underachieved in France, whilst the likes of Iceland, Northern Ireland and Wales showed there is still some underdog magic left in international football 12 years after Greece's stunning European Championships win.
Much like any major tournament, many players have thrived on the big stage and potentially put themselves in the shop window for a number of clubs this summer – and with that in mind, here are three players Tottenham should look to target ahead of the new season...
Ragnar Sigurdsson, Iceland
Iceland's run to the quarter-finals has been simply astonishing, and a key part of that success has been defender Sigurdsson. The Krasnodar star, 30, has been a rock at the back for Iceland and even scored the equaliser in Monday's 2-1 win over England. Formerly of Goteborg and Copenhagen, Sigurdsson is a target for Liverpool, Leicester and Spurs according to The Guardian, and makes some sense for Tottenham. With Jan Vertonghen's injury ruling him out for around four months, Mauricio Pochettino will have to go back to Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer in the heart of defence – and an experienced fourth-choice could be needed. Sigurdsson fits the bill, and would allegedly cost just £4.1m; well within Spurs' budget.
Ivan Perisic, Croatia
Spurs had some issues out wide last season. Nacer Chadli and Son Heung-min failed to impress consistently, and whilst Erik Lamela had his best season for the club so far, another winger should be targeted this summer. A player with pace and drive would be great for Spurs, and no wide man embodied that style more than Perisic. The Inter Milan ace enjoyed four superb performances for Croatia as they bowed out in the last 16, hitting two goals and one assist whilst terrorising full backs with his energy, work rate and driving runs. It's unclear whether Inter would want to sell Perisic just one year after signing him from Wolfsburg, but it's certainly worth Spurs making an attempt to sign him – and hope for another Croatian success story after Luka Modric's exploits at White Hart Lane.
Arkadiusz Milik, Poland
Finding a new striker has to be Tottenham's priority this summer, and Poland ace Milik could be an option. The Ajax star, who hit 47 goals in his last two seasons for the Dutch giants, scored against Northern Ireland to hand Poland a 1-0 win on the first weekend of the competition, and continued to be a threat for Poland even though he missed some chances. Still just 22, Milik has plenty of potential as well as a superb left foot, and may fancy the chance to play at a higher level having conquered the Eredivisie. With Spurs looking for some competition for Harry Kane, Milik should be on their radar this summer.
