The troubled former player has backed the Newcastle United legend to replace Roy Hodgson.
Alan Shearer as Newcastle United Manager
England are on the hunt for a new manager after Roy Hodgson stepped down following the abysmal exit at the hands of Iceland this week and plenty of names have been thrown into the mix since his departure.
Once such name is former England captain and Newcastle United captain Alan Shearer.

He said on the BBC after the exit:
"I'd definitely speak to them, absolutely. I would offer my experience and tournament experience."
It seems that the Newcastle United record scorer has the support of another famous Geordie, as Paul Gascoigne backed the BBC pundit for the role.

Troubled former England international Gazza, who spent eight years with Newcastle United, had this message on his official Twitter account this week regarding the next England manager:
Hi guys and dolls just a quick tweet a whoo to say I would give the ENGLAND job to ALAN SHEARER he is for me the perfect man for the job xx— Paul Gascoigne (@gazza8gascoigne) June 30, 2016
Shearer has the knowledge he is 110% respected a lovable guy to me anyway he's experienced so much & he speaks his mind oh I hope that's ok— Paul Gascoigne (@gazza8gascoigne) June 30, 2016
To the FA please look no further than legend 9 I promise from a decent player u can't go wrong he is thick skinned and will not buckle x— Paul Gascoigne (@gazza8gascoigne) June 30, 2016
Shearer does however remain a controversial option.
He has only experienced football management once, briefly taking control of Newcastle United in 2009 and failing to save the club from relegation to the Championship – so his coaching credentials are certainly less than that of the other potential candidates.
But he still remains an intriguing option for the FA to consider when they replace Roy Hodgson.
