Matt Ritchie has shared his delight to Newcastle United’s official website after completing a move to the club.

The winger secured a move to St James’ Park on Friday, becoming their third signing of the summer transfer window so far.

He has signed five-year deal at the club as Rafa Benitez looks to build a squad capable of winning promotion from the Championship next season.

He has arrived at the club as a direct replacement for Andros Townsend, who completed a move to Crystal Palace on the same day.

Ritchie is clearly keen to make his mark though, saying that it is an unbelievable feeling to have signed for the Magpies.

"It's an unbelievable feeling to come to a football club like this," he told nufc.co.uk.

“When a club like Newcastle comes calling, I couldn't pass up this opportunity. It's fantastic to be here and I'm really looking forward to the challenge of getting the club back in the Premier League."

It now remains to be seen whether Ritchie can adequately replace Townsend for Newcastle United next season.

The winger was a huge hit at the club after joining from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, with his fine performances almost single handedly keeping them in the Premier League.

He leaves big boots to fill but Ritchie would be confident of doing so given his own fine performances in the Premier League last season.
