Jordan Thompson has told Rangers official website that he is looking forward to working with new Gers star Joey Barton next season.

The Light Blues have been busy this summer as a number of new faces have already arrived at the club in the transfer window.

There have been several additions in central midfield, with Joey Barton, Niko Kranjcar and Matt Crooks all arriving to strengthen that position.

Barton and Kranjcar in particular are expected to be regulars in the side as they look to challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.

Their arrival means that the likes of Thompson may struggle to get game time at the club next season.

That doesn’t concern Thompson though, instead insisting that he is looking forward to working under Barton.

“I’m looking forward to working with Joey Barton,” he told rangers.co.uk.

“I’d like to get some more game time for the first team but I still need to work hard and learn the game. I will hopefully stay in the manager’s good books and stay around the first-team.”

It now remains to be seen what sort of line up that Mark Warburton will opt to go with next season.

Having added experience to his squad this summer, it would make sense that he would prioritise them getting game time in his team next season.

However, he showed his willingness to back youth last season and perhaps next season will be the same and Thompson will be keen to take advantage if his manager does.
