West Ham United youngster Josh Cullen has been speaking this week about his excitement about potential involvement in the club’s Europa League campaign this season.

The Irish under-21 international was speaking to the Newham Recorder about his hopes of getting some first-team action with the Hammers in the competition when they enter at the third qualifying round at the end of this month:

“I definitely want to impress in the Europa League. I know I have got to be ready for any opportunity that comes my way and be ready to take it.

“I need to grab it with both hands so I’m looking forward to it and if the chance comes my way, I’ll be ready and waiting to make my mark.”

Cullen of course played for West Ham in the competition last season, taking on FC Lusitans twice and playing as West Ham were knocked out by Romanian side Astra Giurgiu.

Once again West Ham need to qualify for the first round of the competition but this time enter at the much later stage of the third-qualifying stage.

Cullen of course impressed in a West Ham shirt and even featured against Liverpool during a 3-0 win at Anfield last August.

He then went out on loan to Bradford City in League One where he featured 17 times and helped the club into the League One play-offs.

It seems that he is hopeful of a similarly impressive season, starting with European football with West Ham once again.
