Sheffield Wednesday have made an offer of £11.5 million for Ross McCormack, a former Owl has claimed.

Craig Armstrong, who played for Wednesday between 2002 and 2005 currently works as a scout for the FA, and was speaking on Alan Bigg's show on Sheffield Live TV.

He said: "The rumour is they've offered to buy McCormack from Fulham, they've offered £11.5 million I've been told. Where that [the bid] goes I don't know... I've been told that today (Thursday)."

Commenting on his wages, which are also thought to be high, Armstrong added: "Good luck to him, at least he scores goals. Some of the players he's [Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri] brought in are fantastic."

McCormack, 29, currently plays for Fulham but is thought to be looking to move on after two years at the club, which have struggled in the bottom half of the Championship table during this time there.

This is no reflection on McCormack himself, who scored 17 Championship goals in his first season at the club and 21 goals in 2015/16.

The former Leeds United captain is as a result an attractive option for an ambitious club like Sheffield Wednesday who are seeking to win promotion to the Premier League.
