According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Liverpool are among three Premier League clubs interested in Axel Witsel this summer.

The midfielder is expected to leave Zenit St Petersburg and has openly talked of his desire to leave the Russian side. He has a year remaining on his current contract and has met the club’s president Aleksandr Dyukov to discuss a departure.

They though are determined to get big money for the Belgian, wanting as much as €20 million, around £16.5 million, for their man.

Nonetheless, there is still interest in his services and according to TuttoMercatoWeb Liverpool are among those that are keen.

They are not the only Premier League side interested though, with the report claiming that Chelsea and Manchester United are also in the running.

The Reds are expected to be busy this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to mould the squad he inherited from Brendan Rodgers last year.

He has already completed four new signings, with this week seeing them finalising a big money move for Southampton star Sadio Mane.

That deal proved they are willing to spend big money to secure the players to try and turn them into top four contenders next season.

The Liverpool midfield is already packed full of talent though and perhaps an exit would be needed before they would pursue a deal for Witsel.
