Poland's Kamil Grosicki in action with Portugal's Cedric
Poland were knocked out of Euro 2016 on Thursday evening, as they were beaten on penalties by Portugal after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes.
Adam Nawalka's men had only conceded one goal in the tournament before Thursday's quarter-final clash, and that was Xherdan Shaqiri's stunner for Switzerland last weekend, meaning they went into the game with confidence that they could reach the last four.
Poland got off to a great start as Kamil Grosicki's driving run and pinpoint cross was finished off by striker Robert Lewandowski, who scored his first goal of the competition.
Nawalka's side tried to defender their lead, but Renato Sanches struck an equaliser from Nani's backheel, and after 120 minutes of play, the game went all the way to penalties, where Jakub Blaszczykowski's miss handed Ricardo Quaresma the chance to send Portugal into the last four.
Poland have now exited the tournament, but their impressive performances in France could trigger interest in their players - and winger Grosicki is one player who is believed to have Premier League admirers.
The Rennes star, who hit nine goals for the French side last season, is keen to join Ronald Koeman at Everton according to the Daily Mail, whilst French newspaper Ouest-France report that Everton have failed in a £6.7m for the wide man this week.
The 28-year-old was on show for Poland as they drew with Portugal, and Everton fans took a keen interest in the player ahead of a possible move to Goodison Park this summer.
Toffees supporters took to Twitter to discuss Grosicki's performance, suggesting that they were impressed with his performance early on, as his run and assist for Lewandowski's goal clearly caught the eye.
However, as the game wore on, Everton fans became less and less impressed with Grosicki, suggesting that Koeman shouldn't be looking to sign Grosicki this summer...
Grosicki and Baines on the left would be rather beautiful wouldn't it. #EFC— Ian Mitchelmore (@IanMitchelmore) June 30, 2016
One likes Grosicki's general movement and appreciation of space #efc— Paul Riley (@footballfactman) June 30, 2016
Not too impressed in being linked with Grosicki ... having a terrible game #EFC— Craig Duxbury (@craigduxbury) June 30, 2016
As the games gone on, Grosicki has not impressed despite bright start. However hes an improvement on the departed Osman, Hibbo etc #Everton— Matt Sumner (@ElmoArt82) June 30, 2016
Grosicki has had a stinker since the commentator mentioned him with a move to Everton— Chris May (@mayday1973) June 30, 2016
