Italian defender Giuseppe Bellusci has left Leeds United today, joining Italian side Empoli on loan, as reported by the Yorkshire club’s official website.

The official website gives the reason behind his return to Italy as ‘family reasons’ and he joins the side on an initial season-long loan deal with a view to making it permanent should he be a hit in Empoli.

Not many Leeds fans will be sad to see him depart the club this summer.

The Italian failed to come close to winning round the fans with many disliking his attitude on the pitch.

His performances did not help either, putting in some shambolic defensive displays and eventually being dropped by Steve Evans toward the end of last season.

He was also one of the infamous ‘Charlton six’ who pulled out of a game v the Addicks at the eleventh hour whilst Neil Redfearn was in charge at the club.

The Italian was signed in 2014 from Catania but will go down as an unpopular player with the Leeds faithful, who simply never took to him, and will not want to see him return.

He leaves Leeds after playing 61 games for the club.
