Celtic were this week linked with signing Republic of Ireland international Shane Duffy.

The Daily Mail report Celtic are willing to spend £2 million on the Blackburn Rovers defender, and have already made an enquiry.

The 24-year-old began his career with Everton and has yet to play his football in Scotland, but his allegiance is already clear.

Duffy sent this tweet back in 2012 when Rangers were last in the top flight, expressing how excited to was to watch Celtic win against them.

Evidently he would be happy if Celtic pursue their interest in his signature. The centre-back would boost their options, and potentially replace Efe Ambrose at the back.

He has recently been in action with Ireland at Euro 2016, but is now recovering ahead of the new season.

For his sake, let's hope Rangers don't make a move to sign him, and Duffy doesn't have to back track on his tweet like 'Celtic supporting' Joey Barton had to do after switching to Ibrox.
