West Ham have missed out on Michy Batshuayi, with Chelsea clinching a move for the Belgian striker, SkySports report.

The Marseille ace could have linked up with former teammate Dimitri Payet at the Olympic Stadium, but the fee and hefty wages he will earn at Stamford Bridge mean it would have been an expensive addition for a relatively unproven player.

The Hammers will have other targets, and here are five players they could now turn to...

Alexandre Lacazette

West Ham were already pursuing a deal for Lacazette, and their failure to nab Batshuayi could intensify their desire to land the Lyon striker.

Lacazette has a more proven track record than Batshuayi and is worth the extra money required to sign him. Convincing him to leave Lyon will be tough, as will doing a deal with chairman Jean-Michel Aulas, a tough negotiator.

Mario Gomez

Mario Gomez enjoyed a good season in Turkey on loan at Fenerbahce after a couple of injury hit campaigns at Fiorentina, and has been featuring for Germany at Euro 2016.

The Evening Standard has reported West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has been watching him with a view to a potential move, and Gomez's physical game could see him adjust well to the Premier League.

Kevin Gameiro

Sevilla striker Kevin Gameiro impressed last season, scoring 29 goals in all competitions as he led his side to the Europa League trophy for a third successive year.

At 29-years-old, West Ham could provide the Frenchman with a new challenge and a big pay day, while link up with Payet could also help his international ambitions.

Vincent Janssen

Eredivisie top scorer Vincent Janssen netted against England for Holland in March, and is coming off an outstanding season.

At just 21-years-old, his 27 league goals last season for AZ Alkmaar have sparked interest from Tottenham, but their dallying over the Dutch club's 20 million Euros asking price could see West Ham steal in.

Christian Benteke

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke could be a viable fall back option for West Ham, even on loan.

While he did not impress at Liverpool last season, he had a solid track record at Aston Villa, and could thrive with the deliveries of Payet, Lanzini, and new signing Feghouli.
