Speaking to Globo Esporte, the agent of Alexandre Pato has revealed that the Brazilian could yet sign a permanent deal at Chelsea.
Chelsea signed Pato from Corinthians during the January transfer window last season and it was believed by many at the time that the striker would prove to be a decent alternative to the misfiring Diego Costa.
However, Pato struggled to prove his fitness during his time at Chelsea and was limited to only 131 minutes of action on the pitch during his six-month stay at Stamford Bridge.
As a result, Chelsea look all but certain to pass up on the opportunity to sign Pato on a permanent deal and Corinthians President Roberto de Andrade had revealed that the striker returning back to the club was a real possibility.
In surprise comments from Pato’s agent, Gilmar Veloz, though, it has been claimed that the striker could still end up at Chelsea this summer. Veloz explained that Chelsea have the option of signing Pato on a four-year deal and added that they are waiting to find out what the Premier League giants decide to do.
Asked by Globo Esporte about Pato's likely destination, he said, "[I hear] Pato's already agreed deals with Internacional, Sao Paulo, Palmeiras, Flamengo.
“But how is he going to sign for someone else when he has a contract at Chelsea until the 30th? He has a document there with a four-year contract that Chelsea will exercise if they want.
“I don't know if they will do that; I'm not Roman Abramovich. If they don't buy him, it will be up to Corinthians to decide what to do. Pato is on holiday, waiting to find out his future."
