Cristian Tello during his time at Porto
According to Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio, Southampton representatives travelled to Spain last weekend to meet with the agent of Barcelona forward Cristian Tello.
Winger Nathan Redmond joined the Saints from Norwich City last weekend, and Southampton have also lost two key players in the last week as Victor Wanyama and Sadio Mane joined Tottenham and Liverpool respectively.
Whilst a new manager is Southampton's priority, other new signings will be targeted - and even after landing Redmond, another pacey winger is being targeted by the Saints.
Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia reports that Southampton are keen to sign winger Cristian Tello from Barcelona - and even sent representatives to speak to the player's agent last weekend.
Tello, 24, has come up through the ranks at Barcelona's famed La Masia academy, and hit an impressive 20 goals in 86 games for the Catalan giants' first team.
After an 18-month loan spell at Porto between 2014 and January 2016, Tello was then sent to Fiorentina in Italy, hitting two goals and four assists before heading back to Barcelona.
Now, the pacey winger could leave Barcelona permanently this summer, as there are few first-team opportunities at the Camp Nou - but Southampton, despite holding talks with the player's agent about a possible deal, aren't the only club in the race for his signature.
The report claims that Fiorentina are keen to land Tello permanently, whilst Valencia are also interested in the winger, meaning Southampton face a real battle to bring the Spaniard to the South Coast this summer.
