According to a report in The Sun, Norwich City are ready to make a move for Steven Fletcher.
Fletcher’s contract at Sunderland expired at the end of the season, leaving the Scotland international looking for a new club.
The 29-year-old has had interest from a number of clubs, but it is believed that Norwich are closest to landing the experienced hitman.
Sheffield Wednesday were also said to be interested in Fletcher, but they have turned down the chance to sign him after hearing of his wage demands.
Fletcher wants £35,000-a-week, which Norwich are willing to match but Wednesday are not.
Fletcher struggled to break into Sunderland’s team last season, but he is viewed as a good addition for a Championship side.
Both Norwich and Wednesday will be hoping to earn promotion next term, and the addition of a clinical forward is seen as important by both of them.
Norwich are also said to be lining up a bid for Liverpool midfielder Sergi Canos.
