Newcastle United face a fight to keep hold of star midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum this summer as AS Roma look set to snap up the talented Dutchman.
Daily News 24 in Italy is reporting that the Dutch international, who only joined Newcastle from PSV Eindhoven last summer, has already informed Roma that he wants to make the move and that a move is now in the process of being concluded.

It is claimed that he will cost Roma a fee in the region of €20 million (£16.4 million), a fee they will be able to afford if they can finalise a transfer of Leandro Paredes to Russian club Zenit St Petersburg.

Wijnaldum was one of the few shining lights for Newcastle in a dismal 2015-16 campaign. He scored 11 goals from midfield but always looked likely to depart the club should they suffer relegation to the Championship – which they ultimately did.

Newcastle would no doubt like to secure a better price for the player, so Roma may have to go up on the initial price-tag being mentioned.
But it is looking increasingly difficult for Newcastle to keep hold of their star midfielder this summer.
