According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is wary of relying on Adam Armstrong next season.

The Magpies are expected to be busy this summer as the Spaniard looks to build a squad that can secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

He is thought to be targeting a new striker to help them do so, given how that area of the team struggled last season.

There is a feeling that youngster Armstrong should be given his chance to impress though after he shone in League One while on loan.

He scored 20 goals during a loan spell at Coventry City, finishing just five goals behind the division’s top goalscorer Will Grigg.

That form naturally caught the eye of the Magpies faithful, but according to the Chronicle Rafa Benitez is wary of asking too much of the England Under-19 international.

Instead he will lean on the more experienced players in his squad and is hoping that Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez can score the goals they will need for a successful promotion winning season in the Championship.
