Crystal Palace appear to have been unsuccessful in their attempts to bring in Belgian international striker Michy Batshuayi – despite having a bid for the Marseille star accepted.

The Times report that Palace did indeed have a £30 million bid accepted for the talented striker, which would have smashed the Eagles transfer record spent on Yohan Cabaye last summer.

However, the report claims that Batshuayi has zero interest in heading to Palace, instead preferring to wait and see if Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid or Juventus come through with an offer to lure him away from the Stade Velodrome.

Palace suffered a horrible dip in form during the second half of last season and much of the blame was placed on the club’s lack of a potent finisher up front.

It would appear that Palace were attempting to make a move for a player who would address this basic issue, but despite their ambition, it would seem they have fallen short in their pursuit.
