Celtic continue to be linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers defender Shane Duffy.
Republic of Ireland's Shane Duffy celebrates
New Bhoys manager Rodgers made his first signing today, as Fulham's French striker Moussa Dembele has penned a four-year contract with Celtic after a 17-goal season with the Cottagers.
With competition for leading goalscorer Leigh Griffiths now secured, Rodgers may now turn his attention to bringing in some defensive reinforcements.
Erik Sviatchenko impressed following his January move from Midtjylland, but Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata endured difficult first seasons with the Bhoys thanks to fitness and form respectively, and question marks surround the futures of Efe Ambrose and Charlie Mulgrew.
Now, with another centre back needed, the Daily Mail report that Rodgers has made an enquiry about signing Blackburn Rovers defender Shane Duffy.
The 24-year-old, formerly of Everton, has been playing at Euro 2016 with the Republic of Ireland, and may earn a big move having not only starred in France but also with Blackburn last season.
It's claimed that, with Duffy having just one year left on his contract at Ewood Park, Celtic are willing to spend £2m on Duffy in a bid to secure his signature this summer.
The report comes just a day after the Daily Record claimed that there is no interest from Celtic in Duffy's signature, and with conflicting reports emerging, it will now be interesting to see whether Celtic do make a concrete move for the Irish centre back.
