Tottenham Hotspur's pursuit of Antonio Sanabria has taken a fresh twist, with La Liga side Real Betis making a play for the striker.

Gianluca Di Marzio report Betis have registered their interest in the Roma attacker, making an offer of 11 million Euros (£9.15m).

It is claimed that Roma expect Tottenham to come back with an offer which will exceed Betis' bid.

Spanish outlet El Desmarque also report Betis' interest, citing their desire to sign a striker this summer.

Sanabria is one of Europe's brightest striking prospects, and netted 11 goals on loan at Spanish side Sporting Gijon last season.

Last week Gazzetta dello Sport reported Tottenham had reached an agreement with Roma for Sanabria but this was evidently premature.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports Tottenham have a meeting scheduled with Roma on Wednesday (tomorrow) to attempt to thrash out a deal for the Paraguyan striker.

Spurs are no doubt an attractive option for Sanabria and can offer him Champions League football, but Sanabria is familiar with Spanish football, and this could yet swing the balance in Betis' favour along with the promise of more regular action.
