Kranjcar has joined Scottish giants Rangers in the summer transfer window.
Scottish midfielder Moffat played with Kranjcar at New York Cosmos, and he has revealed the discussion the duo had about Rangers.
"When the interest initially came up we spoke, about the city, the team,” Moffat told BBC Sport. “He had a good impression of the team.
“For him, it's different, he's never played in Scotland so he was asking me a whole host of things about the set up.
"Before he signed there I knew he was intrigued by it and the opportunity seemed really good for him. It's a good step for him."
Kranjcar is a good player, and despite being 31 years of age, the Croatian should prove to be a good signing for Rangers.
The former Queens Park Rangers loanee is a very creative midfielder, and his experience will be important for the Gers next season.
Mark Warburton’s side will be aiming to compete with Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
Not many will expect the Gers to actually win the league title, but the Ibrox outfit should at least give the Bhoys a run for the moment.
Rangers have also signed former Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton among other players in the summer transfer window already.
