The former Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers man has criticised Roy Hodgson for not showing enough passion on the touchline.
Barton, who joined Rangers in the summer transfer window on a free after leaving Premier League-bound Burnley at the end of the 2015-16 season, has also shared his appreciation of Italy head coach Antonio Conte, who will take charge of Chelsea after the 2016 European Championship is over.
England lost 2-1 to Iceland in the last 16 of the Euro 2016 on Monday evening, while earlier in the day, Italy got the better of Spain 2-0.
Conte showed a lot of passion on the touchline, while Hodgson looked lost and was quite quiet.
Hodgson so tactically inept again all tournament. How he kept his job after 2014 WC debacle still baffles me!— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) June 27, 2016
Looks like Roy could actually be working in Iceland by the week's end...— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) June 27, 201
He got team selection right for Russia game but made the wrong subs. Since then he has got every selection wrong. He's got to go.— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) June 27, 2016
He had to make unforced HT subs in 2/3 games. Then result of that put us on the most difficult side of the draw.— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) June 27, 2016
He also looks lost on the touchline all the time. Doesn't exude any confidence with his demeanour. Contrast him to Conte in earlier game?— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) June 27, 2016
Hodgson resigned from his position as the England head coach right after the Three Lions’ defeat to Iceland on Monday evening.
It will be interesting to see who is now appointed the Three Lions’ boss. Perhaps Glenn Hoddle? Or Gareth Southgate?
