Max Huiberts has opened up regarding the transfer situation of star man Vincent Janssen.
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a very productive campaign last term and one can be sure that Spurs will once again be looking to mount a Premier League title charge during the upcoming season.
Considering the fact that Tottenham’s title rivals will be significantly strengthening their respective squads as well as due to the added rigours of Champions League football, Spurs will undoubtedly have to reinforce their ranks in order to launch a genuine title bid next term.
As a result, manager Mauricio Pochettino has adopted a proactive stance in the transfer market and has already moved on to secure the services of Victor Wanyama.
Following the signing of Wanyama, Pochettino is currently believed to be eyeing up a move for a new striker and recent reports from De Telegraaf have claimed that Tottenham have already placed a couple of bids for AZ Alkmaar star Vincent Janssen – which have all been rejected.
Now Alkmaar Director of football Max Huiberts has gone on to speak regarding the speculation surrounding Janssen and has stated that the club is still negotiating with various interested parties over the transfer of the 22-year-old.
He told Voetbal International, “Apparently I’ve given a fee, but that is nonsense. I am against any newspaper naming an amount. In fact, I’m against any club mentioning the amount we want for Vincent.”
Huiberts then went on to confirmed that AZ have rejected bids for Janssen from Tottenham and Wolfsburg and revealed that French side PSG have not initiated any contact regarding the young striker.
He continued: “We have rejected them (bids from Tottenham and Wolfsburg). There is therefore no change in the situation surrounding Janssen.
“I read that Paris Saint-Germain might be interested, but we know nothing about that. PSG have not spoken to us.”
