The new Everton manager is expected to be busy in the summer transfer window.
The Dutchman completed a move to Goodison Park earlier this month after they pushed hard for his signature following the sacking of Roberto Martinez.
It has been reported that one of the main attractions to him was the vast transfer fund that has been offered by shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
According to the Mirror, the Iranian businessman has promised his new manager a transfer kitty of £100 million to transform the Everton squad this summer.
And Gullit says his former teammate will use that money to try to sign better players than he could target at Southampton.
“He knows what players he needs to do what he wants to do,” he told evertonfc.com. “He has more money now to invest so he’s going to go for players that he thinks can do better than Southampton did.”
It will certainly be interesting to see who Koeman targets in his first transfer window at the club this summer.
The current Blues squad is arguably one of the best they have had for a number of years and does not need a vast overhaul by any means.
There are some areas that need improving though, and perhaps he will target a couple of big money moves rather than adding a host of new faces to the group.
