According to a report in the Express and Star, West Bromwich Albion will not sanction a deal for Saido Berahino until they have signed his replacement.
Berahino is widely expected to leave the Hawthorns, with Stoke City closing in on signing the 22-year-old.
Tony Pulis has decided that keeping Berahino against his wishes for any longer is not advisable.
Berahino had been linked with Tottenham Hotspur previously, but it is Stoke that appear to have won the race for the young striker’s signature.
The Baggies are ready to allow Berahino to leave, but the deal is some way away from completion.
West Brom do not want to go through with the transfer until they are confident of signing Berahino’s replacement.
The Baggies realise that bringing in a clinical forward will be important, and want to feel totally that they will be able to cover for Berahino’s void if he does leave.
