Speaking to Sky Sports, Ray Wilkins says Adam Lallana must learn to perform for the full 90 minutes before he can be a true star for Liverpool and England.

The midfielder showed marked improvement under Jurgen Klopp last season as he fully embraced the German manager’s pressing style.

He is currently at Euro 2016 with England, where he has been a regular in the side during the group stages.

It has been an indifferent tournament for him so far as he has put in several solid if uninspired performances as the Three Lions finished second in Group B.

And Wilkins says he must learn to play to his best for the full 90 minutes if he is to be a high stature player for England and Liverpool.

“He can win the ball and he works really hard but then he'll go on the fringe of the game and you won't see Adam as much as you should,” he told Sky Sports.

"If he is ever going to become an England regular and a Liverpool player of a high stature he has to take games into the 75th, 80th and 90th minute. That is where Adam falls just short for me."

The debate is certainly an interesting one about Lallana given he is clearly a talented player for club and country.

He can often go missing in games though, especially when played out on the wing, a position he regularly features in for England and Liverpool.

It remains to be seen if he has a long term future in the international setup as a result, with his displays so far this summer failing to settle the issue.
