Leeds United prospect Tyler Denton has signed a one year contract extension at the club, it has been confirmed via their official website.

The left-back had been out of contract and in signing a deal for another 12 months, provides further strength in depth for the squad.

Denton is looking forward to the season ahead, and spoke highly of the early impact new head coach Garry Monk has made.

He told the club website. “It’ll be good to start pre-season again. It’ll be tough – it always is – but it takes a lot of pressure off your mind just being able to get back into it and trying to make an impression on the new manager.

"There’s a real buzz about the place now with the new gaffer. I think the boys will take to how he wants to play and how he works."

Pre-season began today at Thorp Arch, three weeks since the Whites appointed Monk as manager.

The Championship season kicks off in early August with Leeds travelling to QPR on the opening day.

Denton is a long shot to be involved, but he provides a back up which Leeds could need, while the appointment of Garry Monk provides a fresh start and a chance to increase his involvement in the first team picture at the club.
