New Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been picking the brains of David Unsworth and Duncan Ferguson to assess his current squad, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Koeman took charge at Goodison Park earlier this month, replacing Roberto Martinez following his sacking last season.

He is expected to be busy in the summer transfer window after reportedly being handed a big transfer fund by shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

The Dutchman is also keen to the academy players a chance to impress this summer before drastically adding to his squad.

Koeman was keen to give youth a chance to impress during his time at Southampton and is keen to continue that at Goodison Park.

The Blues are well known for developing young talent and perhaps some of those on the cusp of the first team will be given their chance if they can impress during pre-season.
