Jack Breslin has revealed to The Scottish Sun that Celtic broke their promise to give him a new contract.

The 19-year-old defender was released by the Scottish Premiership giants at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

The youngster has revealed that Celtic had initially promised him that he will be given a new two-year contract at the end of his original deal which ran out at end of last season.

“Celtic told me at the start of May that I was to be let go, in a one-to-one meeting with Chris McCart,” Breslin told The Scottish Sun.

“It came as a real surprise because I’d been told I was getting two more years and I’d been planning for next season accordingly.”

“When Celtic released me they said they’d help me find another club," added Breslin. "I haven’t heard from them, although they did say I could keep training at Lennoxtown."

Breslin, who is doing pre-season training with Scottish Premiership side Hamilton Academical at the moment, seems to be quite disappointed with the way he was treated by Celtic.

However, the defender is still very young, and hopefully he will get over his disappointment soon.

Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and not getting a new contract with the Bhoys must be demoralising.

However, if Breslin keeps on believing in himself and continues to work hard, then he will certainly be able to play professional football for a top club soon.

What is important for the teenage defender at the moment is that he does not give up and stays determined to succeed.
